The Roundup and Herding the Cattle
The daily roundup starts after breakfast. Cowboys ride out singlely or in groups of two or three to find the cattle and drive them toward a central location. Once the cattle are all collected from that days location (a few square miles), those going to market or belonging to a neighboring ranch are separated. Most of the work is very calm and low key. But occassionally a calf or young cow makes a break for it and the chase is on. The skill and speed of the cowboys and horses is phenomenal.
