Branding
It is real!
The spring branding is an important part of running a ranch. On the Kokernot 06 Ranch, the roundup and branding is performed as it was in the days of the old west. Cowboys on well trained horses rope a calf by the hind legs (heeling) and drag them to be taged with a brand and the young bulls not designated for breeding are castrated. In these modern times, the only new things are the cattle are given shots to keep them healthy and the branding irons are heating by propane, not an open fire.
